About The Built-In Scorecard

A free readiness check for main contractors, from Darren Evans Ltd: senior-led sustainability consultants to main contractors since 2007.

What it does

The Built-In Scorecard asks fifteen questions about one scheme. Every question can be answered from memory, so there's nothing to look up. Your answers are scored across five pillars: SET (picking it up right), SEE (seeing what you're carrying), SHAPE (in the room, shaping decisions), SMOOTH (keeping it moving) and SHOW (certifying and proving it).

You get an overall readiness percentage, a tier (Exposed, Reactive or Built-In), a score for each pillar and the one area to act on first, with the risk it carries and the action we'd take. Your results appear on screen straight away, and a copy is emailed to you. You can book a 20-minute walk-through with a senior consultant, who will go through your weakest pillar using your own answers.

Who it is for

It's for the people who carry sustainability on a live scheme: technical directors, design and project managers, bid teams and sustainability leads at regional, mid-tier and major contractors, and at design and build or specialist firms. It's most useful at PCSA or Stage 3 to 4 pickup, or at bid, while what you've inherited is still open to challenge and before the design has set.

Who builds it

The scorecard is built and run by Darren Evans Ltd, a certified B Corp that has provided senior-led sustainability consultancy to main contractors since 2007. Founder Darren Evans is the author of The Sustainability Advantage. Our last 10 BREEAM submissions went through with no QA points, and we save clients at least 70% of their BREEAM admin time. The five-pillar framework behind the scorecard is the same one we use on live schemes, which is why the questions sound like the conversations you are already having with your design team.

Your answers and details are used to produce your results, and to follow up if you ask us to. They are not sold or passed on.
